Is this a water moccasin?
Tristan saw this snake this weekend at the RC plane field in Delray. At first he thought it was a water moccasin but after he got home and looked it up on the internet was wasn't so sure. This picture is not so great because first of all he didn't want to get too close to a water moccasin, and also because it was taken with Chip's blackberry since they didn't have a camara handy. I hope it is a good enough picture for someone to identify it.

Re: Is this a water moccasin?
Cedar wrote the earlier, "no"...
It's hard to tell without seeing the shape of the head. If the head is shaped like a spade, it usually means a venomous snake, which would mean a Water Moccasin and it would be juvenile -small and striped. However, it is most likely a Brown Water Snake, which is the not-so-evil twin of the Cottonmouth, without the spade shaped head. What does Tristan think?
